Read full description of the books:
The story begins with seven people enjoying a single malt tasting in a distillery on Islay, a small Gaelic-speaking community in Scotland's Inner Hebrides. Their challenge is to solve the puzzle, "quid est veritas." One of the group, Caballo Blanco, a re-invented version of the original, has an idea that might unearth answers: to stage a golf tournament and marathon on the island. The golf and marathon are successful but do the seven find the answers?

Read information about the authorI live with my wife Laura in Cincinnati. I served four years in the Navy – one at the National Naval Medical Center and three on the USS Simon Lake, a submarine tender. After raising and educating five children, I retired from a career in the private practice of dentistry in 2010. I became certified as a personal trainer, though I now spend my time running marathons, playing golf, writing, painting, and playing with grandchildren. I began writing books in 1987 and have recently finished my tenth, The Secrets of Islay, a creative non-fiction tale about golf, a marathon, and single malt on Islay, a beautiful island in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides. Book proceeds will raise funds for the Islay high school.
Since 2005, I have run 68 marathons and have qualified for the Boston marathon in half of them, when uninjured. I achieved USATF All American status in long distance running in 2007. Running marathons saved my life – when my first wife died; so I keep at it. These days, I run six marathons a year – if the body cooperates.
I also golf and belong to Royal North Devon Golf Club at Westward Ho!, the club with the oldest seaside course in England. I was formerly a member of Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland and I won three club championships at Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati.
I have published six other books on golf: To The 14th Tee, The Links of Wales, The Golf Courses of Old Tom Morris, Golf on the Links of Ireland, Golf on the Links of England, and Complete Guide to the Golf Courses of Scotland, a book that emphasizes the fun in playing the lesser known gems in the Kingdom. The Secrets of Islay is my first book that includes running. For a full story of how my writing evolved – http://kroegerbooks.weebly.com.
I’m proud to have founded the Islay Single Malt Marathon, which is now held annually in September. It continues to raise funds for the Islay high school’s mission trip as do proceeds from the sale of The Secrets of Islay.
