Read full description of the books:
I read this one on a whim. I like the bad girl with a stuffy hero trope, but this didn't work for me.
First of all, this was third in a series and there were a slew of supporting characters I didn't care about.
Second, the entire story took place in two weeks and those two weeks were devoted entirely to wedding preparations. There were endless details about hairstyles, shoes and dress fittings.
It was the hero who cared about the hairstyles, shoes and dress fittings because he is the third brother of the infamous Beaumont family and he is determined to pull off the PR coup of the year with an elegant society wedding to rehab his older half brother who has been in rehab. He is supposedly a control freak. (I said supposedly because he acted like a glorified wedding planner - never barking out orders but deferentially reminding everyone of the schedule. Not an alpha)
So third, this hero is not very interesting to me. The heroine - the bad girl - hasn't been bad for ten years. She is a former child actress who is now a horse trainer/breeder who tells boring stories about her pets while showing their pictures on her phone. (I'm not kidding - two pages about her rescue dogs we never meet in the flesh)
And - nothing. The child star and the third brother hook up. They have tied-up sex to show the hero's controlling nature(?) and the she ties him up later on so we know he really loves her to give up his control. (?)
The climax of the story comes when (view spoiler)[ the bad girl is recognized by the congregation and everyone starts whispering about her so that the priest can barely be heard trying to conduct the marriage ceremony. The heroine runs out in the snow. The hero runs after her - proposes. HEA without knowing how the wedding ended. To this I say - really? I can't think of a celebrity alive who would cause a congregation to drown out the priest - especially a former *child* star with only a TV show on her resume. Would most adults without children even know that TV show? - So no, not buying. (hide spoiler)]
The romance was sweet and conflict-free. The H/h got along fine. If you like a sweet romance, you might like this one.
